John R. Schnell graduated from the University of Rochester in New York before earning his M.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. In addition, he completed his general surgery and orthopedic surgery residencies with the University of Rochester. The Ruben Institute of Advanced Orthopedics at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland awarded him a fellowship to study primary and revision total joint surgery.

Dr. Schnell's hospital affiliations include Saint Francis Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Capital Health System, and Princeton Surgical Center. His areas of expertise are primary and revision total joint replacement, sports medicine and arthroscopy.

Dr. Schnell is a member of the New Jersey Medical Society and the Mercer County Medical Society, as well as being a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
